Aden "Dayle" Melear, 85, of Colona, passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona, with visitation two hours prior to services. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.
Dayle was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Haukins County, Tenn., the son of Carl and Roxy Morelock Melear. He married Charlotte Jane Griffith on June 27, 1967, in Gate City, Va.
Aden enjoyed playing cards, mushroom hunting and fishing with his grandsons. He also enjoyed picking his guitars and mandolin. He attended church faithfully.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; his blended family, Linda (Louie) Prescott, Colona, Daryl, Tennessee, Missy (Emmy) Kyser, Colona, Glen (Sandy) Griffith, East Moline, and Phil Griffith, Colona; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Sylvainia Phipps, Colona and Syreljuainia Turner, Moline; several nieces and nephews.
Dayle was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, James Emerson and Grady Melear.
Dayle was dedicated to his family, all of whom will miss him beyond measure.
