Albert O. D'Hooge, 90, of Silvis, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Visitation will be 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis, with a rosary at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Mass donations or to the church.
Albert was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Moline, the son of Maurice and Augusta Claerhout D'Hooge. He married Betty J. Hess on May 4, 1946, in Rapids City.
Albert worked at John Deere Foundry, retiring after 30 years. He was a great mechanic, and there was not an engine he could not fix.
Survivors include his wife, Betty J. D'Hooge; children, Kenneth (Mary) D'Hooge, Coal Valley, Mary Tate, Vancouver, Wash., Geni Pritchard, Hiawatha, Iowa, Andrew D'Hooge, Silvis, and Donald (Teresa) D'Hooge, Marion, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Connie D'Hooge, Coal Valley; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Albert was preceded in death by an infant son, David; son, Richard; granddaughter, Lisa; brothers, Charles and Gerald; as well as a sister, Martha.
