Anne S. Schmidt, 91, of East Moline, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial is at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is assisting the family with arrangements.
She was born Dec. 11, 1919, in Carbon Cliff, to Ernest and Caroline Ahrendsen Ebbesen. She married Karl R. Schmidt on May 12, 1940. He passed away Oct. 23, 1981.
Anne retired from the Rock Island Arsenal as a typist. She also worked at Strombeck's and was a legal secretary for Sherwood Costigan.
She was a member of Valpo Guild and enjoyed the Quad Cities Symphony, traveling, gardening and cooking. She especially loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters,Kathleen Schmidt, and Christine (Mark) George, Seattle, Wash.; sons, Philip (Jean), Memphis, Tenn., Glen (Sharon), Seattle, Alan (Elizabeth), Carbon Cliff, and Howard, Coal Valley; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha Beytes, Chattanooga, Tenn.; brothers, Carl Ebbersen, Petaluma, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and one sister.
