Audrey M. Prado, 78, of Silvis passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be 1-3pm Monday, April 29, 2024 at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with a prayer service at 3pm.
Audrey was born December 27, 1945 in Moline, IL the daughter of Nellie Puga. She married Ignacio Prado, together they had 3 children before separating. He passed away November 25, 2017. She worked at the Daily Dispatch as a driver for over 20 years until 2008. Audrey, along with her mother and sisters ran the first Mexican store, San Luis, in Silvis that made flour tortillas. She also enjoyed plants, working crosswords, and loved watching tennis.
Audrey loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a strong independent woman, wanting nothing more than to be in her own home when she passed. She was the matriarch of her family and “Momo” to her grandchildren. She enjoyed making her specialty puffy tacos for everyone to enjoy while visiting. She also enjoyed making her famous sugar cookies for family and friends at Christmas time.
Survivors include her children Nellie (Devin McMillen) Brock of East Moline and Benita (Jim) Schulte of Port Byron; grandchildren Derek (Alexis) Brock, Dylan (Kristin) Brock, Drake Wash-Prado, Madison (Brandon Holtam) Wash, and Myka McMillen; great grandchildren Aiden Brock and Rylan Brock; sister Linda (Tony) Gomez of Silvis; niece Tina (Mike) Bonilla of Silvis and nephew Anthony (Lisa) Gomez of Huntsville, AL.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, son Nacho Prado Jr., sister Debbie Miranda, and twin brothers Harry and Henry Vargas.
