Barbara Cox, 74, of Davenport joined her husband and her Lord in Heaven on Nov. 22, 2013, at Genesis West in Davenport. There are many words to describe Barb, but the best may be generous. Barb forgave generously and loved unconditionally. Those who knew her will forever be touched by her presence in their life. Barbara Smith was born Aug. 18, 1939, in Davenport to Delmar and Mildred (Galitz) Smith. She married the love of her life, James Cox, in 1961. She worked at Nestle (Purina) for 28 years. There was nothing Barb enjoyed more than spending time with family and friends. A member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, Barb enjoyed the open spirit worship service. She loved the Lord with all of her heart. Those left to honor her memory, her mother, Mildred Smith, Davenport; her brothers, Richard (Sandy) Smith, Larry Smith and Robert Smith, all from Davenport; her sister-in-law, Sue Moss, Billings Mont.; son, James (Lisa) Cox, Davenport; daughter, Cyndi Cox, Davenport; grandchildren, James Cox, Christopher Cox, Anna Cox, Carly (Justin) King, Katie Fliehler; and many loved nieces, nephews and friends. Barb was preceded in death by her father, Delmar Smith; and her loving husband, James Cox Sr. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport, with a visitation the hour before the service. A celebration of life will be 5 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus in Davenport to share stories of Barb's life. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport.
