Barbara Matheny

Barbara A. Matheny, 72, of East Moline passed away May 14, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Port Byron.

A celebration of life will be 12-4pm Sunday June 3 at Falcon Farms clubhouse (2507 214th St. N, Port Byron). Memorials may be made to the family.

Barbara was born April 13, 1946 in Greenfield, TN daughter of Fred and Thelma Mae Phillips Ligons. She married Billy Matheny March 18, 1966 in Rock Island. He passed away Sept. 27, 2006. Barbara was a waitress at Sharon’s Restaurant in East Moline for several years. She enjoyed bowling, working in the yard and with her flowers. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her children Tresa (Ronald Ross) Bainter, Hillsdale, Norma (Gerald) Ward, Port Byron and Mary Matheny, East Moline; grandchildren Jamie Matheny, Brittnee Bainter, Jackie Gillespie, Kristina Gillespie, Kayla Gillespie, Shawn Matheny, Tyler Matheny and Andrew Horton; great grandchildren Owen, Aliyah, Arianna, Khloe, Arwynn, Ayvah, Asher, Kingston, Jaxon, Gavin, Laila and one on the way; siblings Freddie Ligons, Martin, TN, Wanda Lawrey, Hazel, KY, Sarah (Michael) Wilson, Moscow, KY and Kathy Ligons, Savannah, TN.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers Doug and Jackie.
