Bernard E. Chapman, 89, of Carbon Cliff, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, at his home in Carbon Cliff.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Bernard was born June 29, 1921, in Camden Township, Ill., the son of Robert and Ephel Chapman. He married Joanne Schories Weighall July 7, 1977, in Morrison.
Bernard worked at John Deere Plow Planter for 32 years, retiring in 1979. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne, Carbon Cliff; children, Barb Fawks, St. Petersburg, Fla., Sandra Henriksen, New Berlin, Wis., Faith Weighall, East Moline, Ray D. Weighall, Fresno, Calif., Renee Weighall, Charlotte, N.C., Ricky Weighall, Golden, Colo., and Eric Weighall, Moline; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva, Bernice and Reba; brother, Dwight.
Bernard was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
