Betty Hight

Betty Jane Hight, 74, Colona, passed away July 23, 2013 at her home. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at ll:00 A.M. at the Colona United Methodist Church. Per her wishes she will be cremated. Memorials may be made to the Betty J. Hight Memorial fund. Burial will be at a later date in Burke, South Dakota. Betty was born March 28, 1939 in Burke, South Dakota, the daughter of Claude and Nora Swift Ragan. She married Curtis W. Hight on January 7, 1966 in Burke, South Dakota. She had three sons; Kevin, Bradley and Daniel. Betty had worked at the University of Arizona in Tucson; Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL. ; Associates Loan Company in Winner, South Dakota; the Gregory County Court House in Burke, South Dakota,; and Mitchell Mobile Home Park in East Moline. Betty enjoyed reading, going to church and going out to eat with the family. Survivors include her husband, Curtis; Sons, Kevin (Kelly) Dell Rapids, S.D., Bradley (Denise) Moline, IL, Daniel (Jody) Colona, IL; Sisters, Helen (Ron) Labahn, Tucson, AZ., Inez Van Landuit, FL., Joyce Nitz, Ohio, and Carol Raschke of South Dakota. Seven step-grandsons and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Iola Labahn, Dorothy Labahn, Frances Joines, and a brother, Donald Ragan.
