Betty Jo Hart, 82, of Carbon Cliff passed away Thurs. - March 20, 2014 at Iowa Masonic Home in Bettendorf. Funeral Services will be 10:30am Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church in East Moline. Visitation will be 1-4pm Sunday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church. Betty Jo was born Aug. 11, 1931 in Moline the daughter of Louis and Arlene Smith VanValkenburg. She married Walter L. Hart July 9, 1950 in Silvis, IL. He passed away Feb. 4, 1994. Betty Jo worked at John Deere Planter Works where she met her husband Walter. She later worked in purchasing at Sears. Betty Jo was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church and past president and Lieutenant Governor of the Silvis Optimist Club. She was a very talented artist and was a member of Moline artists Club and Geneseo Kitchen Band. Survivors include her children Wanda Hart of Carbon Cliff, Greg (Cindy) Hart of East Moline, Wendi Jo (Tim) Alonzo of Carbon Cliff and Craig Hart of Carbon Cliff; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; siblings Beverly Johnson, Dewey (Peggy) VanValkenburg and Everett VanValkenburg. Betty Jo was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter and a sister Rebecca.
