Betty A. VerStraete, 89, of Moline, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline.
Betty was born Oct. 31, 1923, in Port Byron, the daughter of "Cap" George S. and Hazel L. Pinkerton Keely. She married Arthur J. VerStraete May 3, 1948, in Kewanee. He passed away Aug. 11, 2009.
Betty was a homemaker and worked as a punch key operator at Eagle Signal during World War II. She was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in East Moline and enjoyed gardening, designing clothes and antiquing. Betty was a loving mother who devoted her life to her children and family.
Survivors include her children, Georgia (Mike) Wozniak, Colona Township, Kathy VerStraete, Moline, Connie (Jim) Godwin, Henderson, Colo., and John (Debbie) VerStraete, Ridgeway, Colo.; grandchildren, Grey Summers, Cap Godwin, Jenny Godwin Mendoza, Audrey Summers, Jessie Hutton, Caroline Schurtz, Nicole VerStraete and Angela VerStraete; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, William and George Keely; and a sister, Beverly Everaert.
