Carl L. Gargano, 84, of Moline, passed away July 1, 2016, at Illlini Restorative Care Center, Silvis.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Carl was born Nov. 29, 1931, in Silvis, the son of James and Maria Rando Gargano. He was born and raised on Hero Street in Silvis. Carl served in the Navy during the Korean War. He married Irene Olson on March 23, 1957, in Davenport.
He worked for RI Lines as a machinist for 10 years and retired from John Deere Foundry in 1991 after 34 years. Carl was a member of VFW Post 8890 and the East End Club, Moline. He loved visiting with people, cooking Italian dinners, fishing, hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Irene; children, David Gargano, Moline, Cynthia Lewis, Moline, and Lori (Tony) Serra, Silvis; granddaughters, Ociana Lewis, Victoria (Daniel) Schoess, Olivia Serra and Andria Serra and one brother. Carl was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
