Carol McDonald

Carol J. Whipple McDonald, 70, of Geneseo, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Schroder Mortuary, Colona. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the mortuary. Burial will be at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. Memorials may be made to the family. The family requests casual attire for the services. Carol born March 29, 1943, in Moline, to Harry and Lena Griffin Whipple. She married Raymond McDonald on Sept. 5, 1964, in Silvis. She retired from John Deere Plow and Planter in 1999. She loved spending time with the grandkids and cooking for her family. She also enjoyed going to the casinos and bird-watching. Carol's generosity and helping everyone will be missed. Survivors include her husband, Raymond; children, Ray (Brenda Verbeck) Krantz, Geneseo, Vicki (Rick) Mlekush and Don (Leann) McDonald, both of Colona, and Troy (Valerie) McDonald, Geneseo; grandchildren, Broc (Jenny) Krantz, Bailie Krantz, Jeffrey Hovey, Dustin McDonald, Madison McDonald, Matthew McDonald and Dawsyn McDonald; stepgrandchildren, Tyler Rusk, Tanner Rusk and Austin Verbeck; great-grandchildren, Chase and Cohen Krantz; brothers, Harvey (Shirley) Whipple, Richard (Nina) Whipple and Ron (Cora) Whipple. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lena Whipple; five brothers, John (infant), Francis, Leroy, Roger and Harry; and two sisters, Minnie Holman and Mary Lou Smith.
