Charles L. Harris, 71, of Davenport passed away Dec. 10, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be 12 noon Friday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7pm Thursday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Charles was born June 3, 1943 in Golden Lake, Ark. the son of Edward Sr. and Georgia Robinson Harris. He married Ethel Mae Chandler July 19, 1963 in Osceola, Ark. She passed away Dec. 28, 1989. He later married Denise Perry Sept. 20, 1997 in Las Vegas, NV. Charles worked at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline. He retired Jan. 31, 2004 after 37 years. He loved cooking, western movies, sports, playing cards and bar tending. Survivors include his wife Denise; sons Charles L. (Sharmella) Harris Jr. of Antioch, IL and Damon Harris of Silvis; daughters Marilyn J. Harris of Silvis and Sandra R. (Bernard) Johnson of Gibsonia, PA; step daughters Cynthia E. (Dyrrell) McCoy of Rock Island, Dione R. (Tyray) Daniels of Metholian, IL and Erica L. Wells of Lindenhurst, IL; 6 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sisters Rose (Jerry) Morrow and Dorthy Davis. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ethel and siblings Edward Harris Jr., Danny Harris and Evelyn Harris.
