Charles M. "Mike" Woods, 67, of Colona passed away Sat. - Feb. 23, 2013 at his home. Funeral Services will be 11am Thursday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be 4-7 Wednesday at the mortuary and also one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or Melanoma Research. Mike was born April 4, 1945 in Lyons, KY the son of Carl and Juanita Edlin Woods. He married Mary Specht in 1965. To this union were born Michaela and Michael. They divorced and he later married Barbara Russell in 1972. To this union were born Joleen and Charlene. Mike was a maintenance carpenter at John Deere Harvester in East Moline retiring on April 30, 2006. He was an endowment member of the NRA. Mike enjoyed his retirement and spent his time visiting the sick in the hospital and helping people in any way he could. He loved riding his 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle and going "frogging" with his buddy Ron McClintock. Mike was a man who loved the Lord and he would tell anyone about Him whenever he had a chance. Survivors include his wife Barbara; children Michaela Woods of Belvidere, IL, Michael Woods of Rock Island, Joleen Woods of Colona and Charlene (Sebastian) Barys of Dewitt, IA; grandchildren Cassie Allen, Cristina Battin, Tyler Battin all of Colona, Cayla Garcia of East Moline, Ashlee and Lauryn Garcia of Dewitt, IA; great grandsons Christopher Allen, Isaiah Burrell and Lukus Porter; sisters Alma Sue Pierce of Colona, Linda Green of Kentucky; brothers Terry Lafollette of Kentucky and Ronnie Woods of Geneseo; several nieces, nephews, cousins and especially the "Friday Morning Breakfast Club" which he looked forward to even in his last days and many many friends whom he loved.
