Charles "Jack" Collis

Charles “Jack” W. Collis, 91, of Colona passed away May 30, 2022 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis.

A funeral mass will be 10am Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Colona. Visitation will be 4-7pm Thursday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona with a rosary at 3:30pm. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to QCCA, Moline Conservation Club or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Jack was born July 2, 1930 in Coal Valley, IL the son of Charles W. and Flora (Walthers) Collis. He married Mary Ellen DeClercq June 30, 1951 in Colona. Jack worked as a mechanical engineer and tool designer for Case IH, retiring after 37 years. He was on the Colona Zoning Board for several years and was a member, volunteer, and board member of QCCA, a member and past president of the Moline Conservation Club and was also a member of Rock Island Conservation Club and In-Fisherman Club. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, feeding the birds, squirrels and rabbits, swimming, and vacationing and traveling. He especially loved sitting in his swing at the cabin in Bagley, WI watching the water and wildlife.

Survivors include his wife Mary Ellen; children Gary (Sharon) Collis, Colona, Vickie (Jim) Kenney, Colona, and Julie (Stephen) Smith, Lynchburg, VA; grandchildren Nate Mickelson, Dylan Kenney, Elliott Kenney, Stephanie Dunaway, and Melissa Edwards; step grandchildren Brian Frakes and Amy Tafoya; great grandchildren Jack Mickelson, Tanner Mickelson, Claire Kenney, Mayla Kenney, Emmi Day-Kenney, Luke Kenney, Ella Dunaway, Braden Edwards, Alana Edwards, and Camden Edwards; step great grandchildren Gage Tafoya and Tyler Tafoya and a brother Dave Collis of East Moline.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tarey Gravitt, and 8 siblings.
