Clinton Robinson

February 3, 1920 — September 12, 2011

Clinton Robinson, 91, of Colona, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at Illini Restorative Care Center in Silvis.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Wildwood Baptist Church in East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 Thursday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the church or the Colona American Legion Honor Guard.

Clinton was born Feb. 3, 1920, in McDonough County, Ill., the son of Perry and Julia Logan Robinson. He married Barbara Lashbrook April 20, 1940, in Memphis, Mo. She passed away Dec. 28, 2006.

He worked at International Harvester and also was a carpenter at the state hospital. Clinton was the owner of CW Robinson and Sons, working as a building contractor and developer. His last development was Rustic Acres Lake Estates. He was also the Carbon Cliff Building Inspector. He served in the Marines during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Colona American Legion Post 1233 where he recently received a Veteran of the Year Award.

Clinton was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church where he was a deacon and was chairman of the building committee. He was also a member of the Farm Bureau, NRA, the East Moline Masonic Lodge. Clinton served as a Rock Island County Deputy Sheriff and was also a Rock Island County Republican Precinct Committeeman for several years. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, camping, reading and watching westerns.

Survivors include his daughters, Rita (Shaun) O'Dell, Colona, and Rhonda (Chris) Porter, Eldridge; sons, Larry (Connie Day) Robinson, Moline and Darrell (Stephanie) Robinson, Colona; 12 grandchildren, David, Julie, Patrick, Ryan, Christa, Nathan, Caleb, Jared, Cari, Seth, Kelli and Jordan; 11 great-grandchildren; brother James (Jane) Robinson, Silvis.

Clinton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; infant daughter, Joy Kay; sister, Mabel; and brothers, Arthur and Leslie.
