Danny Nyquist

Danny "Dan" A. Nyquist, 58, of Rock Island, passed away on Nov. 1, 2011, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Church of The Nazarene, 1010 N. Clark St., Davenport, with a luncheon to follow. Per his request, cremation rites have been accorded. Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dan was born on Dec. 30, 1952, in Moline, the son of George L. Nyquist and Barbara J. Nyquist. He was united in marriage to Shirley Marie Nyquist in August, 1982.

Dan was a 1971 graduate of Rock Island High School and later graduated from Western New Mexico University. He worked for Rock Island Arsenal and later worked for Miller Survey, Silver City, N.M., for 20 years as a computer draftsman.

Dan is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Nyquist; daughter, Angela (Donald) Daigahort, Pollock, La.; three grandchildren; father and stepmother, George and Judy Nyquist, Rock Island; mother, Barbara Nyquist, Rock Island; sisters, Jill Nyquist, Davenport, Jodi (Devin) Esbaum, Bennett, Iowa; brothers, Dale (Patti) Nyquist, Eaton Rapids, Mich., and Dwight (Tina) Nyquist, Rock Island. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Eric Murphy, Barbara Sindt, Kelly Murphy, Maureen "Rennie" Stephens and Kathleen (Eddie) Sindt. Dallas Murphy, stepson, preceded in him death in March 2011. He is also survived by 12 stepgrandchildren; 13 stepgreat-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his uncle, Donald H. Nyquist; and his beloved dog, Penny.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George L. Nyquist Sr. and Margery Nyquist; and his maternal grandparents, Hersil and Edna Kingdon.
