David Lee Cather Jr., 54, of Colona passed away on Friday December 22, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City Memorial service will be 3pm Saturday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona with visitation from 1pm until service time. There will be a time of rememberance and fellowship at the Colona/Green Rock American Legion following the service. A donation can be made in Dave's memory to one of the following organizations: Wounded Warrior Project, Honor Flight of the Quad Cities, or the American Legion - Post 1233 Colona/Green Rock. Dave was born on May 6, 1963 in Rock Island, IL the son of Dave and Rae Jean Pettersen Cather. He served 20 years in the United States Air Force with the 53rd Airlift Squadron and retired proudly as a Technical Sargent in 2002. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, competing in 3-D Archery shoots, R/C aeronautics, and riding his Harley.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Michelle Cather, children Nicholas Cather, Nathaniel Cather, Rebecca Graham, and David Fink; mother Rae Jean Cather, and brother Robert (Patricia) Cather.
He is preceded in death by his father and his faithful hunting dogs, Jake and Luke. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to his dedicatied VA Primary Care Team at the Bettendorf VA clinic and the ICU staff at the VA Medical Center for the amazing level of attention and care he received. Everything was handled with the utmost respect and compassion.
