David W. Miller, 69, of East Moline, passed away May 12, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Boy Scouts of America.
David was born Oct. 15, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of Warren and Doris Christenson Miller. He served in the Navy for four years during the Vietnam War. He married Sonja Corey DeVore on July 12, 1986, in Phoenix, Ariz.
David worked in the lumber industry all of his life, most recently worked at Anchor Lumber as a construction estimator, retiring in 2015. David enjoyed being involved with the Boy Scouts and collecting Boy Scout memorabilia. He also enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and woodworking. David especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his mother, Doris; wife, Sonja; children, Shawn (Stacy) Miller, Glendale, Ariz., Douglas (Beth) DeVore, Solon, Iowa, Kimberly DeVore, East Moline, Amanda Miller, Aledo, and Kurt (Lisa) Hinkforth, El Mirage, Ariz.; grandchildren, Kyle, Geoffrey, Adam, Athena and Hayden; siblings, Steve (Marlena) Miller, Spearfish, S.D., Carol (Doug) Quinlan, Deming, Wash., Mark (Teresa) Miller, Medford, Ore.; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and his best buddy, Jupiter.
David was preceded in death by his father; paternal and maternal grandparents.
