David L. Whipple

David L. Whipple, 61, of Colona passed away August 1, 2022 at his home.

A memorial service will be 11am Tuesday, August 9th at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service time. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family.

David was born December 17, 1960 in Moline, IL the son of Harvey and Mary (Goldsberry) Whipple. He married Mary Smith June 1, 1986 in Henry County, IA. David was a mechanic and a carpenter. He was a Jack of all trades and a master of none. He enjoyed racing, going to the casino, tinkering, and fixing things. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.   

Survivors include his wife Mary; children Melissa (Rick) Gustafson, Malinda (Jason “Squirrel”) Barsema, Matthew (Kasey) Whipple, and Joshua Whipple; grandchildren Daniel Gustafson, Katelynn Pruett, Sarah Gustafson, Mason Barsema, Jaxon Barsema, and Sawyer Whipple; siblings Patty Ekin, Ron (Luann) Whipple, Jackie (Tom) Keogh, and Jamie (Brandy) Whipple and a stepmother Shirley Whipple.

David was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
