Delores "Doe" Cole, 84, of East Moline, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline. Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Hope Creek Care Center. Delores was born July 11, 1929, in Golconda, Ill., the daughter of Samuel and Margaret Anderson Simmons. She married Willard Cogdill, and he passed away. She later married Edward J. Cole on Dec. 23, 1964, in Green Rock. Doe worked for the state of Illinois Department of Corrections retiring after 30 years. She was an active member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Coal Valley. Doe was a dedicated and loving mother. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilt making and cooking, especially her well done pumpkin pie. Survivors include her husband, EJ Cole; sons Dan (Kelli) and Steve (Julie) Cogdill; stepchildren, Cathy (Tom) May, Ronald (Angel) Cole, Caren Cole and Lisa (Tim) Cole; daughters-in law, Anita and Christy Cogdill; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Mike Elder. Doe was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dave Cogdill; and a grandaughter, Kasey.
