Dennis Alan Peterson 78, of New Lenox, IL passed away peacefully on May 8, 2023, at his nursing home surrounded by his loving family.

Dennis was born on Oct 16,1944, in Moline, IL, to the late Lawrence and Amber Peterson. He grew up on 45th Street and attended Rock Island High School, where he was a member of the tennis team.   After high school, Dennis attended Augustana College, where in 1966 he earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry.

After college, Dennis began his career working for the Rock Island Arsenal. He later worked for 35+ years in the chemical industry at a number of companies including Turtle Wax, CP Hall Co., and Pelron.  In retirement, Dennis was a fixture at his grandson's football and baseball games.

Dennis was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and son. He believed in and loved his lord and savior and was a fixture of Trinity Lutheran Church in Tinley Park.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Dennis is survived by his only child, Scott (Kati) Peterson; his grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas, and his former spouse Cindy (Charles) Major.  He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Amber Peterson and his sister Linda Robb.

Visitation will be held at 11:00am - 1:00pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Schroder Mortuary in Silvis, IL with a burial at Rock Island Memorial Cemetery to follow that afternoon.
