Donald Newton

Donald E. Newton, 88, of Colona, died Monday, April 4, 2016, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island. Services and visitation will be private. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials for Mr. Newton may be made to Burn Pits 360, P.O. Box 1475, Robstown, TX 78380. He was born March 29, 1928, in Dawn, Mo., to Wilmer and Pearlina Albaugh Newton. He married Wanda Grimes in Chillicothe, Mo. He was an assember/inspector at John Deere Harvester. He loved gardening and woodworking. Don was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Newton, Colona; daughter, Susan (Jim) McDanel; grandchildren, Lance (Marnie) McDanel, Lonnie (Melissa) McDanel and Lori (Jay) Proehl; and 10 beloved great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Betty Hull and Ester Jones.
