Doris Irene Geyer, 90, of Moline, passed away Dec. 12, 2012, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to American Red Cross of the Quad Cities (1100 River Drive, Moline). Irene was born May 9, 1922, in Chariton, Iowa, the daughter of Ira P. and Cora H. Show. She married William Edward Geyer Feb. 14, 1945, in Kansas City, Kan. They made their home in the Quad-Cities. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing and opened her home to all. She was a nurturing and loving mother who always welcomed family, friends and neighbors. Her claim to fame was peanut brittle, which she always made during winter holidays. It became an annual tradition that Irene would heat up the kitchen and fill orders for peanut brittle in November and December. In her record year she made nearly 800 batches. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce A. Lee and son-in-law, Robert E. Lee, Greensboro, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; two sisters; her husband; a daughter, Jacque; and grandson, Justin Lee.
