Dorothy Ann "Toots" Michels, 72, of Colona, soared on Eagles Wings to be with her Lord and Savior on July 9, 2011.
She died at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Burial is at Dayton Corners Cemetery, Colona. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m.Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona, witha prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
She was born April 16, 1939, in Annawan, to Ebert and Anna Mae Lickhart Whittington. She married Robert Michels on Oct. 5, 1955, in Colona.
She was a member and past president of St. Anne's Ladies group at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She enjoyed crafts, antique glass, gardening and yard sales. She especially loved spending time with and caring for her family, and caring for her mother in her home for 13 years. Her health problems kept her from enjoying the outdoors.
Survivors (spouses) include her husband, Bob, Colona; children,Dennis, Wisconsin, Cynthia (Don) Engel, Colona, Kate Pulse, Colona, Patricia (Barry) Anderson, DeWitt, Iowa, and Robert Craig (Kellie) Michels, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Chad, Lindsey, Courtney, Diedra, Carissa, Travis, Amber, Jessica, Amanda, Melissa, Zachary, Tanner, Emily and Kim; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Whittington and Betty Crowe; special niece, Debbie Whittington, Carbondale, Ill.; very special friend and neighbor, Phyllis Willemkens; very special pet Yorkie, DeeGee. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Ernest, Robert, Raymond, Marvin and Butch.
