Dorothy Norin

Dorothy L. Norin, 96, of Moline, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, with visitation 10 a.m. to services. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Dorothy Lucile Bock was born on April 27, 1919, to Charles and Emma Jess Bock. She attended Moline schools. She married Charles E. Norin Sr. on Oct. 14, 1947. He died in 1990. Dorothy was employed by the CRI&P (Rock Island Lines) in Silvis for 35 years, retiring in 1978. Dorothy was a longtime member of Beautiful Savior Evangelical Lutheran Church, Colona. She enjoyed going to Bible study and Bible class, and she visited her special friend, Gladys Avery, every Sunday after church services. She loved going to UAW dinners and meeting friends for breakfast at Brothers Restaurant, Rapids City. She is survived by daughter, Eva Winfree, Moline; stepson, Robert (Sharan) Norin, Apache Junction, Ariz.; four grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and two brothers. Thank you to the nurses and staff at Illini Restorative Care for taking such good care of Dorothy, and a special thank you to Eva's good friend, Linda Robinson, for her support during Dorothy's final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her church.
