Dorothy L. VanDeWoestyne, 82, of Colona, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at Hillcrest Home, Geneseo.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona, where she was a member. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona. A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Dorothy L. VanDeWoestyne memorial fund.
She was born Sept. 18, 1928, in Atkinson, to Charles and Mary Louise VanWaes VanDeWoestyne.
Dorothy was a factory inspector for Moline Iron Works for 19 years and worked for Bakers Dairy for 33 years.
Dorothy was the last of the VanDeWoestyne children, the 11th out of 12. Dorothy never married or had children of her own. She dedicated her life to her work and helping her brothers and sisters with their children.
Survivors include her sisters-in-law, LaWana VanDeWoestyne and Louise VanDeWoestyne. She has several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews that will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and five sisters.
