E. Joan Kepner, 84, of Colona, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Genesis Medical Center, Silvis. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Wildwood Baptist Church, East Moline. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona. Burial will be at Dayton Cemetery in Dayton Corner, Colona. Memorials may be made to Wildwood Baptist Church. Joan was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Moline, daughter of Archie and Mary Green Pobanz. She married Howard Kepner on Aug. 16, 1950, in Henry County. Joan graduated from Augustana College and was a teacher and substitute teacher at Colona Grade School. She was president of Colona Junior Women's Club and a member and treasurer at St. Peter's Evangelical Church. She was a host and director of exchanges for Friendship Force. Joan enjoyed traveling, visiting 48 foreign countries, and was an avid reader. She also loved knitting and was a member of the Master Knitter Guild. Survivors include her husband, Howard; children, Darrell (Josephine) Kepner, Kewanee, Nancy Kepner, Colona, Douglas Kepner, Colona, and David Kepner, Atkinson; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
