Earvin Christian Dick, 86, of Carbon Cliff, died Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at Aspen Rehabilitation and Health Care, Silvis. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. He was born Dec. 28, 1927, in Henry, Ill., to Nicholas and Addaline Dick. Earvin served in the Navy during World War II. He married Marva Jones on March 11, 1950, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was a machine operator at Alcoa, retiring after 30 years of service. He enjoyed his work at church as a head usher for Edgewood Baptist. Among his favorite pastimes were gardening and playing a good game of canasta with his friends and family. Survivors include his wife, Marva; children, David (Karen) Dick, Barbara (Mike) Mason and Mary (Paul) Nelson; grandchildren, Dan, Shawn, Dawn, Scott and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Alea, Corianna and Caleb; and siblings, Carolyn and Nick. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine; his parents; one brother; and two sisters.
