Edith Florence Caufield Reeves, 93, a resident of Aspen Rehabilitation Center, Silvis, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at the mortuary, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
She was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Rock Island, to James and Anna Kluger Caufield. She married Jack Reeves Aug. 9, 1945, in Rock Island. He passed away Jan. 23, 2006.
Edith was a homemaker most of her life and worked outside her home after her children started school. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She also enjoyed quilting.
She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Our Lady of Guadalupe Women's Group. She also volunteered at Illini Hospital.
Survivors include her children, Stephen (Linda) Reeves, White Bear Lake, Minn., Susan Reeves Grchan, East Moline, and Christine Adamson, Silvis; eight grandchildren, Dan (Ellen) Reeves, Sam (Brooke) Reeves, Chris Reeves, Gabriel Grchan, Michael (Kristen) Grchan, Kristie Grchan, Jim (Laura) Adamson and Laura Adamson; five great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Schelawske, Florida; and brother-in-law, Orville Reeves, Davenport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; parents; and four sisters, Helen Larsen, Dorothy Neyens, Marie Engels and Jean Thiemann.
