Elaine I. Kruckenberg, Moline, went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2015, after a short stay at Illini Restorative Care Center. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.

Elaine Simpson was born on Aug. 12, 1920, in Hillsdale, the daughter of Ray and Vera Simpson. She married Arthur L. Kruckenberg on Jan. 2, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He preceded her in death Nov. 11, 1967. Mrs. Kruckenberg retired from United Township High School January 30, 1988, where she worked as a secretary in the counseling office for 20 years and in the personnel office for seven years. She was known as a caring person who took great pride in her family and her work, valued her cousins and friends, and is credited with many acts of kindness to others throughout her life. Survivors include her daughters, Dr. Karna (Dr. Richard) Schofer, of East Moline, and Karalee (Dr. David) McClain, of Loveland, Colo.; son, Keene (Donna) Kruckenberg, of Wilkesboro, N.C.; three grandsons and their spouses and three great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers. Elaine's family gratefully acknowledges the care and support given by the Light House Home Care staff, Cora, Lynn and Michelle. Her family is also deeply appreciative of the care and friendship of Dr. Ahmed Okba.
