Elda "Buck" Buchanan Jr., 89, of Colona, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island.
Services will be noon Thursday at Schroder Mortuary, Colona. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the mortuary. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Trinity Pathway Hospice.
Buck was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Metropolis, Ill., the son of Elda and Vida Hall Buchanan. He married Norma Urdahl in Moline. She passed away April 1, 1985. He later married Norma Johnson in Lancaster, Mo.
Buck retired from International Harvester in 1985. He was also an entrepreneur. He owned and operated QC Sod and "Bucks" Alibi in East Moline. He also owned and managed several rental properties in the area. Buck was a member of the Local 1304. He was a master gardener and many people in Colona will miss his vegetables.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, Colona; children, Tracy Lundy, Davenport, Marvin (Carol) Buchanan, East Moline, Connie (Leland) Bushong, Colona, Dewayne Johnson, Colona, Troy L. Seufert, Sweetwater, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Everett and Lawrence, both of Metropolis.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one brother and two sisters.
