Elizabeth Ahlstrand, 98, of Peoria, formerly of Moline, Ill., passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to Hope United Methodist Church, 3324 41st St., Moline. Elizabeth was born in Lucas, S.D., on March 2, 1912, the daughter of Daniel and Amelia Hochhalter Schlaht. She married Ivan Ahlstrand on Dec. 28, 1930, in Burke, S.D. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2006, after 75 years of marriage. Elizabeth worked at Moline High School in the cafeteria and retired from the Moline Public Hospital dietary department. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (George) Munger of Peoria; six grandchildren, Stacy (Jeff) Redmon of Bartonville, Ill., Shelby (Rollie) Gerber and Marcie Morgan, both of Mapleton, Ill., Valerie (Phil) Todd of Sterling, Ill., Chris (Dick) Brown of Kansas City, Kan., and Dean Ahlstrand; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Bert Dickman; and sisters-in-law, Jane Schlaht, Darletta Schlaht, Sylvia Schlaht and Clara Schlaht. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Wallace Ahlstrand; five brothers, Maurice Schlaht, Elmon Schlaht, Gilbert Schlaht, Sol Schlaht and Georgie Schlaht; and four sisters, Gertie Fitzgibbons, Leota Morat, Velma Morat and Margaret Dickman.
