Elsie Calhoun

August 29, 1933 — October 10, 2021

Elsie M. Calhoun, 88, of Silvis passed away October 10, 2021 at Allure in Geneseo.

Funeral services will be 10am Saturday at Sycamore Baptist Church in East Moline. Visitation will be 5-7pm Friday followed by a time for sharing at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in LeClaire, IA. Memorials may be made to the church for the library.

Elsie was born August 29, 1933 in Sandstone, MN the daughter of Knute and Jenny (Lindberg) Johnson. She married William P. Calhoun in 1954. He passed away November 25, 2007. Elsie enjoyed books and reading, flowers and gardening, baking and cooking, birds and outdoors, and taking care of her family and her husband.

Survivors include her children Rachael (Dennis) Minich, Ron (Diana) Calhoun, Melinda (Joel) DiBernardo, Celeste (David) Peterson, Valerie (Lyle) Batey, Emily (David) Stover, and Jenny (Dan) Freeman; 27 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way; siblings Lorraine (Paul) Alexander, Gladys (Elwyn) Nelson, Linden (Carol) Johnson, and Lester Johnson.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, grandsons Isaac Batey and Austin Freeman, sisters Carolyn and Grace.
