Emma B. "EB" Swanson

Emma B. “EB” Swanson, 87, of Colona passed away July 25, 2023 at Unity Point Rock Island.

There will be no services at this time. Schroder Mortuary, Colona is assisting the family with arrangements.

Emma was born October 6, 1935 in Rock Island, IL the daughter of George and Harriet Beeding. She married Jack Bates on Memorial Day weekend in 1952. He passed away in 1975. She later married Dennis Swanson August 1, 2012 in Colona, IL. EB worked as a secretary for the Rock Island Lines and the Rock Island Arsenal. She enjoyed fishing, reading, and playing euchre and bingo.

Survivors include her husband Denny; children Vicki (Todd) Boyton, Patricia (Jen Bird) Bates, and Michael Bates; grandchildren Josh and Zeb; great granddaughter Emma and a sister Francis Ryan.

EB was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, and sons Jack and Mark Bates.
