Eugene A. Hill, 74, of Colona, completed his journey on Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Inurnment will be at Marywood Cemetery, Aurora, Ill. Memorials may be made to the family. Schroder Mortuary, Colona, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gene was born Feb. 24, 1936, in Baraboo, Wis., the son of Arthur and Phyllis LaMar Hill. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956 to 1962. Gene married Joan McIntyre June 26, 1954, in Lodi, Wis. He was a livestock dealer for many years and owned and trained harness horses in later years. Gene and Joan Hill are the owners of Hill's Hotdogs in Rock Island. He was a member of the USTA and Colona American Legion Post 1233.
Survivors include his wife, Joan, Colona; children, Debra (Hill) Lincer, Whitefish Bay, Wis., Todd S. Hill, Maquoketa, Iowa, Lisa C. (Hill) Brudnicki, Millbrook, Ill., Sheryl (Hill) Houston, Tempe, Ariz. He was the loving grandfather of 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Dennis Hill, Madison, Wis., and Bob Hill, Highland Ranch, Colo.
Gene was preceded in death by his son, James Hill; his parents; a brother, Gary; and a sister, Judy.
