Evelyn Hantz

Evelyn A. Hantz, 89, of Silvis passed away May 1, 2021 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral services will be 6pm Wednesday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation 2 hours prior to services time. Due to covid restrictions capacity limits and social distancing guidelines will be observed. Private burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Moody Bible Institute, WDLM or Wildwood Church.

Evelyn was born July 23, 1931 in Moline, IL the daughter of Raymond and Mary DeRuytter Hoste. She married Louis D. Hantz June 27, 1953. He passed away October 18, 1994. Evelyn worked at SS Kreskee for 10 years, but most importantly taught pre-school Sunday school at Watertown Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Silvis. She was a member of Silvis Senior citizens for 20 years, Silvis PTA for 11 years, and volunteered several years in the Colona Food Pantry. She also proudly served as an election judge in Silvis for several years.

Survivors include her daughter Penny McElwain of Moline; son Dan (Julie) Hantz of Port Byron; grandchildren Stephanie Hantz and Brian (Cassady) Hantz; great grandson Solomon and one more on the way.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter Pam, sister Rose Dumolien, and a brother Frank Hoste.
