Evelyn Holmes

Evelyn Betty Holmes, 101, of East Moline passed away May 20, 2019 at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline.

Funeral services will be 11am Friday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis with visitation 1 hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline. Memorials may be made to the local Awanas. A luncheon will be held after services at Homewood Evangelical Free in Moline.

Evelyn was born March 11, 1918 in Davenport, IA the daughter of Florence Carlson and Leroy Allen. She married Forrest Wendell Holmes in Clinton, Iowa. He passed away May 2, 1970. She was employed at Jaydon in Milan, retiring in 1980. In the 1950’s she owned J&M Café in downtown Moline. She is also a past member of Green Rock Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son Dennis (JoAn) Holmes, Colona; grandchildren Lori Holmes Bettendorf, IA., Christine (Mike) Fishel, Jacksonville, FL., Denise (Jeff) Key, Milan, IL., Doug (Carrie) Holmes, DeWitt, IA., Nicole (Art) Fallon, Phoenix, AZ., Marlene Holmes, Austin, TX., Eileen (Hank) Mills, Justin TX., Daniel Holmes, Bastrop, TX.; Daughter in law, Annette Holmes, Bastrop, TX.; 13 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, sons Terry L. Holmes and Richard A. Holmes, granddaughter Danielle Orton.
