Fern Houk

Fern L. Houk, 77, of Silvis, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Aspen Rehab Center, Silvis, surrounded by her family. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Friday. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. She was born Aug. 12, 1935, in La Harpe, Ill., to Helen Settles. She married Charles Houk in 1953. He died May 2, 2001. Fern was a CNA. Survivors include her children, Pam Fare, Wisconsin, Charles A. (Tish) Houk, East Moline, Robert Houk, Carbon Cliff, Dan Houk, Silvis, and Chris (Emilie) Houk, Silvis; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Pierce, Colleen (Ed) Stokes, Jody Settles and Shelia (Ken) Ostofi; brothers, Sonny (Debra) Settles and Richard Goings; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; grandson, James Allen; and a brother-in-law, Larry Pierce.
