Florence M. Kuchirka, 96, of Geneseo, entered into eternal rest in heaven Dec. 28, 2015, at Hillcrest Home in Geneseo. According to her wishes, she was cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Florence was born July 23, 1919, in Edford Township, Ill., the daughter of William and Mary Myers. She married Peter Kuchirka March 26, 1945. Florence graduated from Western Illinois University and taught school in Geneseo and later worked at the Geneseo Library. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, where she was an organist and choir director for many years. She enjoyed teaching piano lessons at home. Survivors include her children, Peter (Carolee) Kuchirka, Mississippi, Betty (Harold) Epperson, New Windsor, and Dr. Mary Ann Fensterbusch (Dan Kipp), East Moline; grandchildren, Colleen (Scott) Sherbeyn, Geneseo, William (Becky) Powell, Davenport, and Aaron Powell (Cory Hook), Geneseo; great-grandchild, Jason Jenkins (Britney Snell); great-great-grandchildren, Addie Jenkins, Dallas Garrison, Colin, Willy and Becka Powell; stepgreat-great-grandchildren Joe, Johny and Justin Koenig. Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ethel Myers.
