Floyd R. Mathis, 93, Silvis, died Nov. 10, 2015, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis, with visitation two hours prior to service time. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. He was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Prairie Hills, Mo., son of Walter and Lena Cupp Mathis. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Evelyn Zeltner Aug. 1, 1942, in Huntsville, Mo. She passed away July 5, 2005. Floyd worked as an inspector at Air Filter for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed running and racing coon dogs. Survivors include his children, Darrell (Dona) Mathis, Carbon Cliff, Carol (Michael) Bartels, Coal Valley, and Patricia (Monte) Holt, Savannah, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, Curtis Mathis, Cairo, Mo., and Robert Mathis, Cameron, Mo. He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Russell; a great-grandson, Joshua Roberts; and three brothers.
