Frank A. Strobbe, 84, of Silvis, passed away Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Visitation will be 4 to 7 Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the East Moline American Legion Post 227 or East Moline VFW Post 8890, which will be conducting military honors.
Frank was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Moline, the son of Cyril and Herminie DeBusschere. He married Cynthia Forsyth on May 28, 1949, in East Moline, the last couple to be married at the old St. Mary's Catholic Church. Cynthia passed away March 18, 2004.
Frank served in the Navy during World War II. He worked at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, retiring after 38 years. He was a member of the East Moline American Legion Post 227 and East Moline VFW Post 8890. He was a 4-H leader and a lifetime member of Quarter Horse Association. He was also a proud member of the UAW Local 865. Frank recently participated in the Honor Flight on Nov. 8, 2010, with his grandson, Shawn.
Survivors include his daughter, Sue (Greg) Schatteman, Geneseo; his son, Tom (Darlene) Strobbe, Geneseo; sister, Simone Gilmore, Geneseo; grandchildren, Shawn and Stephanie Strobbe, Amanda McBride, Sommer Witt, Stacy Schatteman; and great-grandchildren, Bailey, Taylor and Kamryn Strobbe, Kennedy Witt, Payton and Kaydence McBride.
