George A. Green, 85, of Port Byron, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at First Baptist Church in Colona. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Schroder Mortuary, Colona, is assisting the family with arrangements. George was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Craigsville, W.Va., son of Walter and Florence Green. He married Clara Reinhold on July 25, 1963, in Colona. He was assistant pastor at First Baptist Church in Colona. George enjoyed singing and playing gospel music, gardening and reading his Bible. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Clara; sons, Randy (Linda), Schaumburg, Ill., and Matt, Port Byron; daughter, Pam (Brian), East Moline; brothers, James A., Nitro, W.Va., Leslie, Charlestown, W.Va., and Charles, Eastis, Fla.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of friends, nieces and nephews.
