George R. Rogers, 83, of Colona, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7pm Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery.
George was born August 18, 1927, in Corinth, Mississippi, to Millard and Georgia Gamble Rogers. He married Juanita Adams June 17, 1951, in Hernando, Mississippi. George served in the Army during World War II. He was a machinist for John Deere for 28 years, retiring in 1984. He enjoyed fishing, flea markets and garage sales.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Juanita; children, Jesse Rogers, Moline, and Rick Rogers, Colona; grandchildren, Tony Rogers, Bryan (Missy) Rogers and Julie Rogers; great-grandchildren, Kayley Rogers and Dawson Rogers.
A special thank you to his niece and nephew, Marie (Paul) Spoon and Gerald (Brenda) Johnson, Ryamze, Miss., for their support and care they gave George during his illness.
