George Studen, 82, of Silvis, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, at his home in Silvis. A private family service will be held at a later date. Schroder Mortuary in Silvis is assisting the family with arrangements. George was born April 15, 1931, in Silvis, the son of George and Mileva Bobic. He graduated from United Township High School in 1949, and received a bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University. He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. George retired from McDonald Douglas in Long Beach, Calif., after 35 years. George was an avid golfer. He designed and patented his own putter and never saw a golf course he didn't like. George is survived by his brother, Mike Studen, Los Angeles, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ann Tyler, Millie Zagert, Georgia Adam, and Bess Lingard; and a brother, Dan Studen. Online condolences may be made at schrodermortuary.com.
