Gordon D. Billings

Gordon D. Billings, 81, of East Moline passed away March 2, 2024 at his home. 

Services will be 12 noon Thursday, March 7, 2024 with visitation 2 hours prior to service time at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. A celebration of life will be 1:00 - 3:00pm Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the FOE in Carbon Cliff. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. 

Gordon was born December 1, 1942 in Ottumwa, IA the son of Cecil and Nellie (Horn) Billings. He graduated from UTHS class of 1960 and worked as a mail carrier for the United States Post Office. He retired in 1998 after 35 years and made many great friends and memories. 

Gordon enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle and went on many trips in his younger years. He was on his 8^th Corvette, enjoyed NASCAR, boating, and many sports including Illini Basketball, Cubs, and Bears. He loved meeting with friends for a drink at his favorite places. Gordon was quick witted and always had a joke or a good story. He was a family man and cared so much for family and friends. He was also a grill master with his weber and enjoyed tinkering in his garage, maintaining his home, yard, and especially his vehicles. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Kristine Mueting; sister Shirley Billings; brother Jim (Mary Sue) Billings; grandchildren Matt, Jacob (Kaleb), Aaron, Josh, and Maegen; great grandchildren Jaxson and Jaida; his partner in life and best friend Marianne and his best buddy Wally. 

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, son Douglas, former spouse Barbara Flippo, and beloved pets Max and Sissy. 

Gone too soon, but always in our hearts.
