Harry Bottorff

Harry R. Bottorff, 66, of Geneseo, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Burial will be noon Wednesday at Camp Butler Cemetery, Springfield, Ill. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).

Harry was born Oct. 29, 1945, in Moline, the son of Robert and Virginia Hollingsworth Bottorff. He received a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University where he met his wife Kathleen Kulek. They were married Feb. 15, 1974, in Ely, Nev.

Harry served in the Army during Vietnam. He worked at International Harvester for 10 years and later retired from the Corp of Engineers. Harry enjoyed carpentry, fishing, gardening, raising livestock and nature. He was an avid story and joke teller and loved to travel.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen; daughters, Emily Bottorff, Chicago, and Jill (Adam) Braun, South Elgin, Ill.; two grandsons, Owen and Connor; sisters, Kay (Larry) Streebym Asotin, Wash., and June (Tom) O'Donoghue, Northfield, Ill.; brother, Dick (Nancy) Bottorff, Minneapolis, Minn. Harry was preceded in death by his parents.
