Helen Bowling, 83, of Silvis, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Hope Creek Care Center in East Moline. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Schroder Mortuary in Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Hampton Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. Helen was born March 6, 1932, in Hyden, Ky., the daughter of Elihue and Elizabeth Howard Gross. She married Woodrow Bowling Feb. 9, 1952, in East Moline. Helen worked 18 years at D and J Laundry in Moline and enjoyed quilting and flower gardening. Survivors include her husband, Woody, Silvis; children, Gary (Debbie) Bowling, Larry Dean Bowling, Richard Bowling, Woody Bowling and Linda (Mario) DeLaRosa; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Bill Gross, Mary Roberts, Martha Baker, Carolyn Begley and Virgie Roberts. Helen was preceded in death by her son, Phillip; great-grandson, Toby; brother, Chester Gross; and sisters, Irene and Siller.
