Helen Descamps, 97, of Colona, Ill., passed away Thursday, December 27, 2011, at Illini Restorative Care Center in Silvis. A funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colona. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary in Colona. Entombment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Moline. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Helen was born April 1, 1913, in Geneseo, Ill., the daughter of Evo and Augusta VanNorway DeBlieck. She married Julius Descamps on August 17, 1932, in Geneseo, Ill. He passed away February 1, 1999. Helen was a member of the Altar Society at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Colona and loved spending time with her family. Survivors include her children, Shirley (Keith) Howard of Madison, Wis., Steven (Diane) Descamps of Geneseo, Vicki (Dean) Best of Arlington, Texas, and Nick (Cindy) Descamps of East Moline; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Anne DeCap of East Moline; and brother, Roy DeBlieck of Alexis, Ill. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two sisters.
