Helen E. McKay, 88, a lifelong resident of Hampton, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Hampton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hampton United Methodist Church.
Helen was born June 10, 1922, in Hampton, the daughter of Albert and Esther Erickson Juedes. She married Wilbur "Pete" McKay Nov. 16, 1941, in East Moline. He passed away Oct. 21, 1996.
Helen, along with her husband, owned and operated McKay's Plating in Hampton since 1951. She loved crocheting and traveling and was a NASCAR fan. She and her husband also owned Shady Lakes Campground in New Windsor and Shady Lake Stables in East Moline, where they raised harness horses.
Survivors include her children, Sam (Jan) McKay, Hampton, Richard (Ann) McKay, Hampton, Rebecca Jared, Hampton, and Margaret (James) Martin, East Moline; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
